Michigan EQIP high tunnel ranking
Michigan is its own ranking page with its own primary sources — not a rename of Texas EQIP ranking, California EQIP ranking, Ohio EQIP ranking, Pennsylvania EQIP ranking, New York EQIP ranking, North Carolina EQIP ranking, or Washington EQIP ranking. The national ranking-dates page lists Michigan as ACEP/CSP/EQIP - Friday, Oct. 30, 2026 — the same calendar day as North Carolina, from Michigan’s own sources. The Michigan EQIP page does not print an Apply-by date. It names High Tunnels among EQIP Initiatives. A live Special Initiatives page prints a Seasonal High Tunnel Initiative for Wayne and Genesee counties. The matching High Tunnel Initiative sibling URL returned 404 tonight. None of the NRCS pages that did open print a current high-tunnel payment dollar or a current numbered ranking score.
Official pages opened 10 October 2026, about 03:15 UTC. The national ranking-dates page, the Michigan EQIP page, the Michigan current-year signup page, the Michigan & National Special Initiatives page, two leftover 2024 high-tunnel / EQIP news pages, the Michigan payment-schedule page, and two MSU Extension documents were opened live tonight (HTTP 200). Ranking-dates printed Michigan as “ACEP/CSP/EQIP - Friday, Oct. 30, 2026.” The Michigan EQIP page does not print an Apply-by date; it names High Tunnels among EQIP Initiatives and names Justine Reid as Michigan EQIP Coordinator. The current-year signup page still titles Fiscal Year 2026 Ranking Reports (GLRI Nearshore Health 2026 and Area 1–4) and does not print a high-tunnel dollar tonight. Special Initiatives prints a Seasonal High Tunnel Initiative for Wayne and Genesee counties. October 21, 2024 news used a Nov. 22, 2024 deadline and named two seasonal-high-tunnel pools plus Act Now without a numbered threshold. January 4, 2024 news used Feb. 9, 2024 and manufactured-kit / per-square-foot language without a dollar. Those leftover dates are a different fiscal year and are not the FY 2027 ranking-dates line. The Michigan High Tunnel Initiative sibling URL and the Michigan seasonal high tunnel sibling URL returned HTTP 404. The payment-schedule page did not print a high-tunnel payment dollar. Those cells stay blank. This page is not USDA and not legal advice.
National notes that still apply: county-inspection checklist (copied from the Pennsylvania seasonal page — Michigan has no matching seasonal page tonight), what EQIP will not pay for, HU advance payment, NRCS approved vs program text, used vs new, kit index. Texas: EQIP high tunnel Texas. California: EQIP high tunnel California. Ohio: EQIP high tunnel Ohio. Pennsylvania: EQIP high tunnel Pennsylvania. New York: EQIP high tunnel New York. North Carolina: EQIP high tunnel North Carolina. Washington: EQIP high tunnel Washington. Snow load matters in Michigan — Rimol Nor'Easter vs Bootstrap 30′ snow, zone 4 vs zone 8, ground posts, ground anchors. Replacement film is grower cost unless the county says otherwise — high-tunnel replacement parts and plastic replacement.
Ranking-dates: Friday, Oct. 30, 2026
The Application Cutoff Dates page is titled FY 2027 Application Ranking Dates for the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP), Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP), and Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). https://www.nrcs.usda.gov/ranking-dates redirected to /application-cutoff-dates. Under Michigan it prints:
ACEP/CSP/EQIP - Friday, Oct. 30, 2026Source: USDA NRCS — Application Cutoff Dates (FY 2027 Application Ranking Dates), copied 10 October 2026, about 03:15 UTC. Fiscal year label on that page: FY 2027. North Carolina prints the same calendar day on that table; Michigan’s other pages below are not North Carolina’s leftover January 15 / Nov. 7 dates.
NRCS accepts producer applications for its conservation programs year-round, but producers interested in funding during the current fiscal year should apply by their state’s financial assistance program application cutoff dates (below).
Apply by your state’s financial assistance program application cutoff dates to be considered for funding in the current cycle. Funding is provided through a competitive process. If you apply after the financial assistance program application cutoff dates, NRCS will automatically consider your application during future funding cycles and will contact you for any changes that need to be considered.
Friday, Oct. 30, 2026 is still ahead of this retrieval. Year-round apply still stands. A printed cutoff is not a promise you will be funded this cycle. Rules vary; call your county USDA Service Center.
Michigan EQIP page: no Apply-by date printed
The state EQIP page does not print an Apply-by date tonight. It points to state-specific ranking dates. Washington printed the same calendar day as ranking-dates. California, Ohio, and North Carolina still show leftover FY26 apply-by dates. Michigan did not.
The Environmental Quality Incentives Program provides financial and technical assistance to agricultural producers and non-industrial forest managers to address natural resource concerns.Source: USDA NRCS — Environmental Quality Incentives Program - Michigan.
Applications for NRCS conservation programs are accepted on a continuous basis; however, customers should apply by state-specific ranking dates to be considered for the current funding cycle.
Some producers may also qualify for advance payment.Copied as printed. The Michigan EQIP page does not print a 50 percent / 90-day rule tonight. National HU notes stay on EQIP advance payment.
EQIP Initiatives printed tonight:
- Regenerative Pilot Program
- High Tunnels
- Great Lakes Restoration Initiative
- Organic Initiative
- Conservation Innovation Grants
“High Tunnels” is a list item on the Michigan EQIP page. The matching High Tunnel Initiative sibling URL still returned HTTP 404 tonight.
NRCS will take a look at the applications and rank them according to local resource concerns, the amount of conservation benefits the work will provide and the needs of applicants.
Applications for most programs are accepted on a continuous basis, but they’re considered for funding in different ranking periods. Be sure to ask your local NRCS district conservationist about the deadline for the ranking period to ensure you turn in your application in time.
Program contact printed tonight: Justine Reid, Michigan EQIP Coordinator, Phone (517) 324-5278, Email justine.reid@usda.gov. Contact your local service center to start your application.
Seasonal High Tunnel Initiative — Wayne and Genesee
NRCS-Michigan's Seasonal High Tunnel Initiative provides funding for producers in Wayne and Genesee counties to purchase and install seasonal high tunnels to extend the growing season and maximize local food production. Funding is provided through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program.Source: USDA NRCS — Michigan & National Special Initiatives, copied 10 October 2026, about 03:15 UTC. The page does not print a payment dollar or a ranking score.
Current-year signup: leftover FY 2026 ranking-pool PDFs
Michigan publishes a current-year signup sibling. Tonight that page still titles Fiscal Year 2026 Ranking Reports. Those reports are a different fiscal year from the ranking-dates FY 2027 Friday, Oct. 30, 2026 line. This site names the PDFs and does not copy scores from them.

Tonight’s signup HTML did not print an ACT NOW High Tunnel threshold or a high-tunnel payment dollar. Check with your local NRCS service center for the current ranking-pool list.
Leftover 2024 news — Nov. 22, 2024 and Feb. 9, 2024
Two live Michigan news pages still describe earlier high-tunnel and EQIP rounds. Those dates stay labeled 2024. They are not the FY 2027 ranking-dates line.
Applications must be submitted by Nov. 22, 2024, for this current round of funding.Source: USDA NRCS — USDA Announces Conservation Funding for Michigan Farmers and Forest Owners. Title printed USDA Announces Conservation Funding for Michigan Farmers and Forest Owners. Publish Date October 21, 2024.
There are two funding pools that provide funding for seasonal high tunnels, often called hoophouses. One pool is available to producers throughout Michigan and a separate pool of funding is available to producers in Wayne and Genesee counties.
Applications in designated funding pools, that meet a set ranking threshold, may be eligible to be approved and obligated prior to a final ranking of all applications through a new funding process called Act Now. Act Now allows producers to implement designated conservation practices faster than though the traditional funding process.Copied as printed, including “though.” The 2024 page does not print the numbered threshold. This site does not invent it.
Financial assistance for seasonal high tunnels is available to Michigan producers who apply by Feb. 9, 2024.Source: USDA NRCS — USDA Financial Assistance Available to Michigan Producers for High Tunnels. Title printed USDA Financial Assistance Available to Michigan Producers for High Tunnels. Publish Date January 04, 2024. Photo caption printed “Seasonal high tunnel in Emmet County.”
High tunnels must be purchased as manufactured kits and financial assistance is provided at a set amount per square foot. Higher payment rates are available to historically underserved producers.“Set amount per square foot” is printed without a dollar. Manufactured-kit language matches the national FAQ. This site does not invent the square-foot rate.
High tunnels protect plants from severe weather and allow farmers to extend their growing season, growing earlier into the spring, and later into the fall or winter. This funding initiative also includes financial assistance for practices supporting high tunnel production such as mulching, irrigation systems, subsurface drainage, critical area planting, and others.
The application cut-off for producers in Michigan is Feb. 9, 2024. Applications can be submitted at the producer’s local USDA Service Center.

Michigan High Tunnel Initiative and seasonal pages: 404 tonight
The matching Michigan High Tunnel Initiative URL returned HTTP 404: USDA NRCS — High Tunnel Initiative - Michigan (URL returned 404 tonight). The matching seasonal high tunnel URL also returned 404: USDA NRCS Michigan — Seasonal High Tunnel System for Crops (URL returned 404 tonight). The live Special Initiatives paragraph above is the Wayne and Genesee sentence, not a kit-spec page. Use the Pennsylvania-sourced county-inspection checklist as national-adjacent notes — labeled as Pennsylvania copy, not Michigan NRCS.
Michigan payment schedule: no high-tunnel dollar printed
NRCS provides financial assistance for selected conservation practices. The availability and amount of financial assistance can vary between states.Download the Michigan payment schedules below to see which activities qualify, and how much financial assistance is available.
Each year, NRCS re-evaluates the amount of financial assistance available for each practice in each state. These evaluations consider the current costs for material and labor within the state, and also the fair marketplace compensation for opportunity costs that may arise (e.g. conversion of productive land).
The updated payment schedule is released in the first quarter each Fiscal Year (Oct-Dec).
Tonight’s HTML did not print a high-tunnel payment dollar or a current-year payment-rate PDF on that page. Check with your local NRCS service center for the current Michigan payment schedule.
Michigan snow and season extension (not a PSF table)
Michigan wet spring snow is why gothic profile, film hold-down, and ground posts matter here. The Michigan EQIP page and the ranking-dates page do not print a wind rating or a snow-load PSF. Michigan State University Extension is education — not EQIP and not a load table.
In simple terms, a high tunnel or hoophouse is a greenhouse like cold frame used to extend the growing and harvest season both in the spring (starting in February) and fall (continuing though November).Source: MSU Horticulture — High Tunnels for Vegetable, Fruit, Herb and Flower Production (John A. Biernbaum), copied 10 October 2026, about 03:15 UTC. Copied as printed, including “though November.”
The multi peak structures (Haygrove Hightunnels) are not designed to support snow loads so they have limited or three season uses. In areas where wet snow is possible in mid to late April (such as Michigan), the benefit to early season extension is reduced.“Not designed to support snow loads” and “mid to late April (such as Michigan)” are MSU printed sentences — not a Tunnel Spec PSF.
The polyethylene covering is usually 6 mil (0.006 inch thick) greenhouse-grade 3 to 4 year polyethylene film.Gothic (more peaked, sheds snow better) is preferred over Quonset (rounded and flatter)
Goals: season extension – as much as 4-6 weeks earlier in the spring and later in the fall; additional yield and production possible during cool or rainy seasons; reduction of insect and foliar disease pressure“4-6 weeks” is an MSU printed goal, not a yield table. Winter greens notes stay on high-tunnel winter lettuce.
Each farmer received a 30-foot-wide by 96-foot-long hoophouse (Nor’easter, from Rimol Greenhouse Systems, Hooksett, N.H.), provided through grant funds, which was constructed on his, her farm. This hoophouse was selected for longevity and ability to withstand high snow load and wind expected at the sites.Source: MSU Extension — Hoophouse Farming Startup (E3138). MSU selected a Rimol Nor'Easter for that grant study — vendor snow language, not a PSF. Comparison stays on Rimol Nor'Easter vs Bootstrap 30′ snow.
Vendor wind language and hold-downs stay on high-tunnel ground posts and ground anchors. Roll-up hardware stays on high-tunnel roll-up sides. Those pages are not a Michigan wind table.

FAQ
- When is the Michigan EQIP ranking cutoff?
- The USDA NRCS Application Cutoff Dates page, titled FY 2027 Application Ranking Dates for ACEP, CSP, and EQIP, lists Michigan as “ACEP/CSP/EQIP - Friday, Oct. 30, 2026.” Copied 10 October 2026, about 03:15 UTC. That is the FY 2027 ranking-period cutoff printed tonight — not a payment dollar. The Michigan EQIP page does not print an Apply-by date; it tells customers to apply by state-specific ranking dates. Friday, Oct. 30, 2026 is still ahead of this retrieval. Leftover 2024 news pages still show Nov. 22, 2024 and Feb. 9, 2024. Those leftover dates are a different fiscal year and are not this FY 2027 ranking-dates line. Rules vary; call your county USDA Service Center.
- Can I still apply after Friday, Oct. 30, 2026?
- Yes — applications are accepted year-round. The ranking-dates page says NRCS accepts producer applications year-round, and that if you apply after the cutoff, NRCS will automatically consider your application during future funding cycles. The Michigan EQIP page and the current-year signup page both say applications are accepted on a continuous basis. Ask the district conservationist about the next ranking period.
- Does Michigan have a high-tunnel EQIP pool?
- The Michigan EQIP page names High Tunnels among EQIP Initiatives. The Michigan & National Special Initiatives page prints a Seasonal High Tunnel Initiative for producers in Wayne and Genesee counties to purchase and install seasonal high tunnels, funded through EQIP. An October 21, 2024 news page — labeled 2024, not the FY 2027 cutoff — said there are two funding pools for seasonal high tunnels: one throughout Michigan and a separate pool for Wayne and Genesee counties. The matching High Tunnel Initiative sibling URL returned HTTP 404 tonight. This site does not invent a current pool dollar or a ranking score.
- Does Michigan publish a high-tunnel EQIP payment on these pages?
- No current high-tunnel payment dollar is copied here. The ranking-dates page, the Michigan EQIP page, the current-year signup page, and the Michigan payment-schedule page opened tonight do not print a Michigan high-tunnel payment rate. A January 4, 2024 news page said financial assistance is provided at a set amount per square foot and that historically underserved producers may receive higher payment rates — that page does not print the dollar. The payment-schedule page says financial assistance can vary between states and that the updated schedule is released in the first quarter each Fiscal Year (Oct-Dec). Check with your local NRCS service center for the current schedule. Tunnel Spec does not invent a high-tunnel USDA dollar.
- Who ranks a Michigan high-tunnel application?
- The county NRCS office. The Michigan EQIP page tells you to contact your local service center, names program contact Justine Reid, Michigan EQIP Coordinator, (517) 324-5278, justine.reid@usda.gov, and says NRCS ranks applications according to local resource concerns, conservation benefits, and applicant needs. Ask the district conservationist about the ranking-period deadline. Vendor “NRCS approved” copy is not a ranking letter. Print the county-inspection checklist. This page is not USDA and not legal advice.
Tunnel Spec does not write EQIP contracts or rank applications. Published by Pool Party Capital, Inc. Not USDA. Rules vary; call your county USDA Service Center.
