6-mil high-tunnel plastic replacement

Growers search for high-tunnel plastic replacement, 6-mil greenhouse plastic, and UV polyethylene when a cover is tired. This page compares three 6-mil Amazon sheets already cited on Tunnel Spec — Bootstrap Farmer 16×90, Grower's Solution 16×25, and VEVOR 15×40 — plus the Bootstrap spring-wire lock channel those sheets need. It is not a manufacturer kit and not a 30-foot gothic roof roll.

Featured Amazon prices copied 7 September 2026, about 15:36 UTC. A missing featured price stays an em dash. EQIP and CPS language below is the 6-mil cover sentence already on the county-inspection checklist and what EQIP will not pay for. No USDA payment dollar is invented here.

Parts directory: high-tunnel replacement parts. Kit index: commercially manufactured kits. Size map: high-tunnel sizes. First commercial rectangle: 20×40 kits. Large 30×96 sheets stay on manufacturer pages on the 30×96 cost page. County inspection: EQIP checklist. Drip parts after the house is up: high-tunnel drip irrigation. Tomatoes in the house: high-tunnel tomatoes. Strawberries in the house: high-tunnel strawberries. Cut flowers: high-tunnel cut flowers. Winter lettuce: high-tunnel winter lettuce. Zone 4 vs zone 8: high tunnel USDA zone 4 vs zone 8. Alternatives to a commercial hoop house: high tunnel alternatives. Shade cloth over that film: high-tunnel shade cloth. Lock channel and spring wire: high-tunnel wiggle wire. Two layers with an inflation blower: high-tunnel double-poly inflation. Small tears and batten strap before a full roll: high-tunnel plastic repair tape. Ground anchors and staples: high-tunnel ground anchors. Sidewall roll-up curtains: high-tunnel roll-up sides.

EQIP and CPS often expect 6-mil

When the cover is polyethylene, the Pennsylvania seasonal high tunnel page and Conservation Practice Standard 325 both name a minimum 6-mil greenhouse-grade UV material. That is a cover specification, not a reimbursement line.

When using a polyethylene cover, a minimum 6-mil greenhouse grade, UV-resistant material is required.

For polyethylene covers, use a minimum 6-mil greenhouse grade, UV-resistant material.

Pennsylvania is one state office page. CPS 325 is the national practice standard. Do not treat either as a film-replacement payment schedule. Rules vary; call your county NRCS office.

These sheets are not a 30-foot roof

Width on the listing is the short side of the sheet, not hoop-arc length. A 16-foot Bootstrap or Grower's Solution roll will not wrap a 20-foot gothic the way a manufacturer 32- or 42-foot roof film does. The 30×96 cost page already keeps large 30-foot sheets on Bootstrap Farmer and Grower's Solution vendor pages for that reason.

Lock channel with the film

Replacement film that is not held in channel is a tarp, not a finished cover. The Bootstrap Farmer spring-wire and lock-channel pack is the hardware SKU already cited with these sheets. The pack comparison — 20/50 bundles, channel-only, wire-only, and Deep/Double manufacturer pages — is on high-tunnel wiggle wire. Hip lock on a sidewall curtain is also on high-tunnel roll-up sides. Film for a hoop-bender DIY frame — not an EQIP kit — is on hoop bender DIY vs prefab kit.

FAQ

Why does EQIP language talk about 6-mil plastic?
The USDA NRCS Pennsylvania seasonal high tunnel page says: “When using a polyethylene cover, a minimum 6-mil greenhouse grade, UV-resistant material is required.” Conservation Practice Standard 325 says: “For polyethylene covers, use a minimum 6-mil greenhouse grade, UV-resistant material.” Those are cover-grade sentences, not a payment dollar. Rules vary; call your county NRCS office.
Which Amazon 6-mil sheets are compared on this page?
Three live listings already cited elsewhere on Tunnel Spec: Bootstrap Farmer 16′×90′ (B07D22SZCQ), Grower’s Solution 16′×25′ (B01F7XJI52), and VEVOR 15×40 ft (B09HCHZNCL). Featured prices were copied from amazon.com on 7 September 2026, about 15:36 UTC. A missing featured price would stay an em dash.
Is a 16×90 sheet a 30-foot gothic roof?
No. A 16-foot-wide roll is a short sheet. The 30×96 cost page already says a 32-foot sheet is often too narrow for a 30-foot gothic with a 14-foot peak, and that Amazon 16×90 / 16×25 / 15×40 rows are too small to imply a 30×96 roof. Measure the hoop arc. Large 30-foot sheets stay on manufacturer film pages, not these Amazon SKUs.
Does EQIP publish a dollar for replacing film?
No dollar is copied here. The Pennsylvania page and CPS 325 state a minimum 6-mil greenhouse-grade UV polyethylene when that cover is used. They do not publish a film-replacement payment on those pages. Tunnel Spec does not invent USDA or EQIP dollars.
Why is wiggle wire on a plastic-replacement page?
Bootstrap Farmer spring wire and lock channel (B01BC4HBQI) is the lock hardware already cited with these film SKUs on the kits hub. Film that is not held in channel is not a finished cover. It is not a kit and not a substitute for a commercially manufactured frame.
